Graduate Program
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Mississippi State University offers graduate programs of study leading to the Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. The Computer Engineering program is offered through a joint effort of faculty in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. These programs prepare graduates for leadership roles in the constantly changing activities of research, development, product design, consulting, and education.
Each graduate program is tailored to include course work and research to develop maximum capability in the student's area of special interest.
Most research in the Department is supported by government agencies or industries. Research funding within the ECE Department exceeds $8 million/year. Research facilities include the Emerging Materials Research Laboratories (EMRL), the High Voltage Laboratory (HVL), the Institute for Signal and Information Processing (ISIP), the Microsystems Prototyping Laboratory (MPL), the Mississippi Center for Advanced Semiconductor Prototyping (MCASP), and the Telecommunication and Information Technology Laboratory (TITL). Other MSU research facilities are closely affiliated with the ECE Department. This includes the Engineering Research Center (ERC) and the Diagnostic Instrumentation and Analysis Laboratory (DIAL).
