MICROSOFT PROJECT TEMPLATES
Project management tools are becoming increasingly important
in engineering. Many corporations use comprehensive
engineering tools in which all aspects of the design process
and product development cycles are captured electronically
(e.g.,
enterprise engineering tools).
These tools are gaining increasing acceptance in the workplace (much
like spreadsheets did many years ago). Naturally, as the cost of
desktop computing drops, shrink-wrapped software such as
Microsoft Project
is becoming a staple of many small to medium-sized companies.
We first introduced the use of Microsoft Project to the senior design
curriculum in Fall'2002. The class Syllabus page has a Microsoft
project file posted for the current semester. Included in the project file are
class assignments for the current semester, as well as some sample
tasks that are appropriate for completing the design work required for
your project. You should edit the tasks for the design work to fit
your own project.
Obtaining Microsoft Project
- Log into the ECE intranet via this link
- You should see a link to "MSDNAA". Clicking on the link will
take you to Microsoft's site.
- Click the Login button on the left menu. This will bring you
back to a login screen on the ECE site.
Use your ECE user ID and password to authenticate. If this is
successful, you will be sent back to the MSDNAA site where you can
download any of the software that ECE has available. The official name
of the sofware is Project Professional .
