Economic:

First of all, we will use the built-in IR port on the PDA to cut down on costs. We will try to make our design as inexpensive as possible, and attempt to make the design easy to use.

Environmental:

Our design will address the issues of wide spread IR data being scattered to other IR devices, as well as conserving energy by shutting down the IR port.

Sustainability:

Our design will adhere to all IEEE standards, and will be built to allow for simple upgrading and maintenance.

Manufacturability:

Our design will use existing PDAs and communications products, pre-existing microcontrollers, and current IR ports. In addition to this, we will implement our design in a modular fashion so as to allow ease of development and testing of the system.

Ethical:

All IEEE ethical standards will be observed. ADTRAN will assume all rights to our design upon completion of the project.

Health and Safety:

Our design will provide safety from shock in the microcontroller, and will include UL and power leakage specifications.

Social:

We will deal with security issues, the range of the IR device, and ease of use of the configuration program.

Political:

Our design will adhere to all applicable FCC regulations.
