ECE Celebrates Du for Recognition on the Highly Cited Researchers 2021 List

February 2, 2022

Mississippi State University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is proud to recognize Professor Qian (Jenny) Du for being named to the annual Highly Cited Researchers™ 2021 list from Clarivate.

Du’s research interests include hyperspectral remote sensing image analysis and applications, pattern recognition, and machine learning.

The anticipated annual list identifies researchers who demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade. Their names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science™ citation index.

“It is increasingly important for nations and institutions to recognize and support the exceptional researchers who are driving the expansion of the world’s knowledge,” David Pendlebury, Senior Citation Analyst at the Institute for Scientific Information at Clarivate said. “This list identifies and celebrates exceptional individual researchers who are having a significant impact on the research community as evidenced by the rate at which their work is being cited by their peers. The research they have contributed is fueling the innovation, sustainability, health and security that is key for our society’s future.”

Du, who is the Graduate Program Coordinator and holds the Bobby Shackhouls Endowed Professorship, received her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2000. She is a fellow of IEEE and SPIE—International Society for Optics and Photonics, and she has served on the editorial broad of several prestigious journals in remote sensing. Du was the editor-in-chief for IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, leading its successful transition from a conventional hybrid journal to an open access journal.
