The faculty and technical staff maintain contacts with various segments of the electric power industry. In addition to research and evaluation/testing conducted in the Laboratory, personnel conduct short courses and seminars both at Mississippi State University and on-site at a utility or industry. Several graduate courses are delivered to remote locations using various instructional technologies.

The faculty and technical staff are actively involved in various Committees, Sub-Committees, Working Groups in Power Engineering Society and Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) .
