ECE Students Learn about Power at Conference

ECE Power Systems and High Voltage Engineering Group

The Power Systems and High Voltage Engineering group in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Mississippi State took 19 students and 3 faculty to the IEEE Power Engineering Society Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exhibition held in Dallas May 21-24. The group went in a MSU bus that drew lots of attention from conference participants. Students were able to participate with over 10,000 other power engineering professionals in sessions, panels, tutorials, and poster sessions.

The highlight of the conference was touring the exhibition floor and visiting with many of the 600 companies represented. Students were able to see many demonstrations involving full size power engineering equipment. Company executives from S&C Electric in Chicago including CEO John Estey (2nd from right), Illinois posed with the MSU group on the exhibition floor. This group also included IEEE PES Executive Director Bob Dent (10th from right) and IEEE PES President-Elect Wanda Reder (far left).
