ECE Graduate and MSU Track Athlete Named To ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team

Ryan Irwin Ryan on Track

Mississippi State track and field placed four student athletes on the 2007 District VI ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America organization.

ECE's Ryan Irwin was among the four MSU athletes who received this honor, and one of two who earned the honor for the second consecutive year. As a spring 2007 graduate in computer engineering, Ryan was the only male recipient of the ESPN The Magazine award from State. Originally from Ballwin, Missouri, Ryan is a three-time all-Southeastern Conference academic selection and winner of the 2007 Newsom Award for track and field at MSU. The award is given to the top scholar on each intercollegiate team on campus. He was also a five-time President's Scholar and a three-time Deans Scholar while attending MSU.
