Students Power Toward the Future

MSU power engineering students take time
to visit with IEEE PES President Wanda Reder,
President-Elect Al Rotz and Executive Director
Pat Ryan after the Student-GOLD luncheon.

Twenty-eight MSU Electrical & Computer Engineering students spent two days in the windy city rubbing elbows with 13,000 other power engineers. The students and several faculty members attended the IEEE Power & Energy Society (new name for Power Engineering Society) Transmission and Distribution Exposition and Conference in Chicago April 21-23. Twenty-three graduate students presented technical posters.

The trip via bus was made possible through the financial support of TVA, the Electric Power Associations of Mississippi, Southern Company and the South Mississippi Electric Power Association. All the students participated in the conference plenary, Student-GOLD luncheon and walked the exhibit floor talking with many of the 600 companies showing their wares and discussing careers in power engineering.
