Surf over to http://www.mathworks.com/academia/student_version/ and take a look. jwb ------------------ J.W. Each ECE student is required to have legal and ready access to the Matlab software package to use this semester and beyond. >> How often will we be using it? We, in ECE1002, will be using Matlab sporadically throughout the semester. You will also use Matlab in ECE courses like 3413, 3424, 3434, 3163, 4413, 4423, 4913, 4923, 4512, 4522, 4532, 4542, and several others. (A BIT OF HISTORY: I've been using Matlab at least once a week since, uh..... 1991.) >> Is the ITS version the same? Not exactly. ITS provides access to the professional version through the MSU site license. In short, you are given temporary access to MSU's copy..... You are asked to buy the student version. ITS's version has slightly different (and fewer) libraries, may have limited availability, and access can be revoked at any time. The student version is YOURS to use so long as you are a student (according to MathWorks license). Professors are aware of what libraries are included in the student version. FYI: The version of Matlab on my ECE office machine is _NOT_ the ITS version. The ECE dept maintains its own Matlab license with yet another set of libraries. We, the ECE faculty, do not use the ITS version. ------------------ J.W.
