From jean at ece.msstate.edu Mon Mar 1 16:16:51 2010 From: jean at ece.msstate.edu (Mahnas Jean Mohammadi-Aragh) Date: Mon Mar 1 16:17:06 2010 Subject: [ece1002] class announcements Message-ID: <5F4916DE-91AD-4D8D-B6D7-CB1BA405D84D@ece.msstate.edu> We had several questions about our upcoming class schedule and due dates; this email should ensure we're all on the same page. On Wednesday, we will begin Ethics, so you do not need to bring your toolbox. Ethics chapters in the book are #1 and 20-25. Start reading. Wednesday's clicker questions will come from Ch. 1 and 20. Your thru-hole soldering is due Wednesday, March 24 at the beginning of class. You may turn the boards in early; some of you have. Your magazine article paper and presentation slide (quad chart) are due Wednesday, March 24. You will be giving your presentation in class the week of March 29th. Pick your article early through the Discussion system. Selection is first-come, first-served; do not pick an article someone else has already chosen. There is a lot going on in class, and there is more to come. Try to stay on top of your assignments and don't wait until the last minute; it rarely hurts to do something early. -Jean From jean at ece.msstate.edu Wed Mar 3 16:02:17 2010 From: jean at ece.msstate.edu (Mahnas Jean Mohammadi-Aragh) Date: Wed Mar 3 16:02:33 2010 Subject: [ece1002] homework #4 - due March 8, 1pm Message-ID: Students, I neglected to mention that your Homework #4 on Digital Logic is due by next class period. I only see two submissions (I know, it's early still...) so I wanted to remind everyone not to forget! The digital lecture notes are posted. As an added bonus, I have posted two solutions for the Alarm Word Problem we did in class. (key out and brake off, etc...). This problem is a great illustration of what we are looking for in the HW #4 design problems, and that two completely different solutions are still correct. Good luck! -Jean P.S. Don't forget your quiz on Thursday at 5pm. Now it's back to business... You need to bring your toolbox to class today as we will start surface- mount soldering. We will have limited in-class surface-mount soldering time, so plan to get practice today and questions answered. Do not plan to "finish up" your through-hole, which is due Wednesday. See you in the auditorium at 1pm! -Jean From jean at ece.msstate.edu Mon Mar 22 14:35:51 2010 From: jean at ece.msstate.edu (Mahnas Jean Mohammadi-Aragh) Date: Mon Mar 22 14:36:00 2010 Subject: [ece1002] Reminders for class on Wed 3/24 Message-ID: <7C280AE6-D176-46AC-A132-FA1CBAB070A1@ece.msstate.edu> Intro to ECE class reminders: Your thru-hole soldering project is due at the beginning of class on Wednesday. Put it in the collection box. Bring your toolbox; we will continue working on our surface mount boards. Your paper and quad chart for your IEEE article are due Wednesday. Refer to the class website for submission details (e.g., required format). Submit your work thru the website by the due date. You will be giving a 3 minute presentation using your quad chart on either Monday, March 29 or Wednesday March 31. You will not know your presentation time slot until you are in class, so be on time.
