QUIZ! But before you take this week's quiz, you need to take the "sample" quiz. Click on "Assessments" on the left-hand side of the screen. You should see a quiz named "Can you see the pictures?" This quiz is always available and is not worth any points. It allows you to see if you computer is properly configures to take Blackboard quizzes. If all goes well, then proceed to the real quiz. If you computer does not display all the figures, equations, etc then you need to take your laptop to ITS. They will help you figure out your problem. (I am just an user of Blackboard just like you. I have no authority or insight into this cryptic piece of software.) Quiz #1 opens today at 5PM on the OnCampus/Blackboard system. BE SURE YOU SUBMIT YOUR QUIZ WHEN YOU FINISH AND BEFORE THE SPECIFIED DEADLINE. If you fail to do this, your quiz will not be recorded by the Blackboard server and it will lead me to think that you never took the quiz. When you have properly submitted your quiz there should be some screen that says "Thank you" or gives some other type of instructions. You have 1 hour to complete the quiz once you start it. You have three chances to take the quiz before 1159PM on Sunday night. You last (not best) score is the one that will be recorded in the grade book. Good luck. See you on Monday. JWB PS: Read chapters 2-5 before class on Monday. ------------------ J.W. I have also heard the the University Bookstore (next to Little Caesars) had copies earlier. Try these two locations for the ECE1002 text. If you are unsuccessful, you can read the first couple of chapters by going to this address ftp://pcpftp.pearsoned.com/Faber_R/Terry/Bruce%200558145469/ My web browser would not work by clicking on the link. But it does work if you paste the address into your URL address box. I don't know why..... Makes no sense to me. jwb ------------------ J.W. Most students have a book but there are a few who do not. The bookstore has placed an order for some more books but since they are print on demand it will be a couple of weeks before they arrive. So, we have posted the first few chapters of your book online so those students who do not have a book yet can still access the material. Below is the website and login/pw to access the first 3 chapters. You can either send students to this site or save them as a pdf and post to your WebCT course or distribute as you like. Let me know if you get past chapter 3 before the extra books arrive and I will post another chapter. I do not know about office 2007, but I know that office 2010 has an option to "save as" a pdf. If your version of office does not have that, you can do a search on Google to find a pdf creator. Most of these programs will create a printer that your computer can use that will create a pdf. *IMPORTANT!!! *Please remember to name your file appropriately (netid_hw1). Please fill out the schedule that is in the book and scan it into your word document. This will give you practice in scanning a document. You will probably have to do this a few times during your career in ECE. Feel free to ask me any other questions regarding hw1.
