More discipline-specific topics (programming, digital devices, circuits, electronics, signal) may be available if EE, CPE, CS, or SE tutors are there tomorrow night. If you desire ECE disciple-specific topics and they are not available at the tutoring session, make a request. The TBP chapter president (an EE major) will very likely accommodate your request at the next tutoring event. Please take advantage of this opportunity. Solid demand for tutoring will ensure that TBP continues offering these tutoring sessions. Thank you. JW BRUCE, Chapter Adviser Tau Beta Pi, Mississippi Alpha chapter ------------------ J.W. Message-ID: <33223767.133491320874443037.JavaMail.root@zimbra.ece.msstate.edu> Key things to remember when soldering: * Rosin flux (the paste and the pen) is your best friend. * Keep your iron, components, and workspace neat and clean. It's an operating room for electronics. * It is always apply the iron to the component to be soldered (IRON) apply the solder (SOLDER) remove the solder after the appropriate amount has flowed (SOLDER) then, remove the iron (IRON) * You want that nice volcano shape to your thru-hole leads. * NEVER EVER flow solder a 2nd time with applying ample rosin flux to it first. (The original rosin flux has long-since boiled away.) * Watch all of the videos again and again. Pay very special attention to the way the instructors do things. You can learn a lot from some of the things that the instructors do NOT say. * Keep practicing. Soldering is a skill. Bring your toolboxes, and soldering kits on Monday. We will meet in the auditorium first. You will NOT get enough time in our 1-3pm time slot to finish your kit. You will have to solder outside of class. These thru-hole soldering PCBs will be due on Friday November 18th. jwb PS: Don't forget your quiz and the other 1002 assignments while you solder. ------------------ J.W. The submissions page would only allow you to submit your file in a zip file. I was not able to change the setting so I have created a new ethics homework called Ethics Homework 2.0. This should allow you to submit a pdf as normal. Please submit your homework to Ethics Homework 2.0. It has the same instructions as the previous homework and is due the at the same time. Please let me know if you have any questions. Matthew -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
