Digilent has upgraded the Basys board and is now selling the Basys 2 board. If you are just now buying a board you will be receiving a Basys2 (I got mine Friday). If you have the Basys board from digital devices you likely have the original Basys. The Basys2 has "Basys 2" printed in large letters on the center of the PCB. The boards are slightly different. The use different packages for the same FPGA. This means you will need to configure the Xilinx ISE tool according to your board. There are 2 changes required (both explained in the lab write-up). First, you have to select the correct package. Second, you have to use the correct ".ucf" file (a file which maps pins to pin names). Both boards will work with all the labs. It is probably easier to use that than a virtual machine. Will someone with 64-bit operating system please try this and let me know if it works?
