I am planning to record a lecture and provide access to that, so that you will be able to see the material I would be covering. I will also send out some e-mail tomorrow with more specifics regarding the timing of the next quiz and the associated problem session. Please watch your e-mail closely for that information, and respond as promptly as possible to any questions asked. I apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. Go through the audio and video checks to make sure that you will be okay to view the presentation, and then you should see a page with an icon labeled "ECE 4913/6913 - Recorded Lectures" as well as an icon reading Nov_2_2009.pdf. The .pdf file contains a copy of the pages that are covered in today's lecture, and you should download them so that you can follow along in the notes. You can then click on the "Recorded Lectures" icon to go in a view the presentation. The page that should come up at that point will either allow you to enter the "room" or, at the bottom of the page, view a recorded archive of a presentation. You should click on the one recorded archive that shows up there, and view that presentation. Please let me know if you have any troubles viewing the presentation, being as specific as you can about what difficulties you had. The system prefers that you use Microsoft Internet Explorer, although I have found that Mozilla Firefox works just fine, in spite of the warnings that you get. Randy Follett P.S. There was one point in the presentation where a set of plots was missing, and I mentioned that I would provide it to you. So, enclosed with this e-mail is a .pdf file that has the needed Bode plots. (Note that if you run the code listed in the presentation, you will get these same plots.) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Randolph F. Also, please remember that I will be holding a problem session this evening from 5:00 till about 6:00 in our regular classroom. Tomorrow, during class time, we will also set up a time for Sunday's problem session, which I will announce via e-mail as soon as we get that arranged. In your explanation of the data, you should obviously mention any anomalous data, with any reasonable explanation that you can come up with, but the general trends of the data seem to be correct. So, please submit your lab #3 report by next Wednesday (Nov. 18). We will also meet for the last lab of the semester next week. The experiment will be addressing the issue of identification of an unknown system (a "black-box") by means of a frequency response. There are other ways to do it, but this was the idea I was thinking about. Example: Type the following, or put it in a .m file and execute it: x = 0:.1:1; y = [x; exp(x)]; fid = fopen('exp.txt','wt'); fprintf(fid,'%6.2f %12.8f\n',y); fclose(fid); Now examine the contents of exp.txt: type exp.txt 0.00 1.00000000 0.10 1.10517092 ... 1.00 2.71828183 (This example is taken from the online help in MATLAB.)
