For this experiment, please delete the part referring to the LabVIEW environment, and focus only on the MATLAB/Simulink simulations. So, parts 1, 2, and 3 of the list of items required for the lab report will stay the same. In addition, though, I would like for you to replace the last two items (the LabVIEW work) with a study of the range of the output variable from the D(z). To accomplish this (in your simulation in Simulink) you should plot the output signal from the D(z), and by varying the magnitude of the input, determine the largest commanded signal that will result in the D(z) output not exceeding a magnitude of 10 (which will be the hardware limit when we implement the controller in LabVIEW). Do this in both of your simulations (with D(z) = 1, as well as the first order D(z) specified). If there are any questions about these changes, please ask in class tomorrow, and I can elaborate as needed. Randy Follett P.S. Since you should already have parts 1, 2, and 3 done, or at least mostly done, let's plan to have this report due Monday, April 20. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Randolph F. Where you are told to do a design, they mostly do NOT give you a frequency response, and it is assumed that you will generate that yourself. You can use MATLAB for this, and you should also realize that on a quiz, I will give you the frequency responses you need. 2. Some of the problems request a "unity-dc gain" lead or lag compensator. Using that, you would be able to design for specific SSE values, as well as phase margin, but we did not cover that material. I have a handout on that material (which is actually fairly straightforward) that I can give you, but it will not be covered on the quiz as a result. So, you should ignore the unity dc gain specification, and just do a lead or lag, as specified. I'll talk more about this in the problem session on Sunday, if you are still confused.
