The process takes about 30 minutes on a reasonably new machine, and takes almost 2 GB of space on your hard disk. I dismissed the group that was to meet today, and told them that I was in hopes of figuring out the difficulty soon enough that I would be able to go ahead and meet with the Friday group as scheduled, and then set up a makeup lab for them. However, it appears that it is going to take a little bit more time to get things fixed up. So, the bottom line for this week is that I will NOT be able to meet either section of the lab (for today or tomorrow). Since I already announced that there would not be a class meeting tomorrow, we'll still go with that, and we will meet next on Monday. I will work out the problem, get the solution to each of you that have installed LabView on your computers, and we will meet and do this lab at some later date, depending on how long it takes me to get the solution delivered. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I only noticed the missing piece of the software package for the 2009 version early this afternoon. (I had previously run the rest of the experiment on another machine that actually still has the previous version of LabView, which has no problems.) I have gotten an "official" explanation of what is required to get things to work, and as I mentioned, the necessary software is not yet compatible with the 64-bit version of LabVIEW. So, if you would like to change out to a 32-bit version of LabVIEW, you can let me know and I'll work out a time to get with you and do the necessary installation. If you want to do that, please go ahead and un-install the 64-bit version before coming by to get the 32-bit version installed. I will be in a meeting from 12:15 until 1:30 tomorrow (Thursday) and then from 11:45 until 1:00 on Friday. So, it looks like I will have to cut the Friday class meeting short in order to make it to the meeting. That means that we will likely only meet from 11:00 until 11:30 on Friday. Also note that I will not be available during these times to let you re-install LabVIEW, so keep that in mind when scheduling a time to do the installation. This is separate from the lab report for Exercise 5, and I would like to get an e-mail (one from each group is sufficient) listing these specific problems as soon as you can manage it. I have been upgrading software in the lab over the weekend, and would like to test the new setup against any previous problems that were experienced.
