Just a note about the final exam - the exam will be handed out this 
Thursday, and will be due, as indicated on the syllabus, the following 
Thursday, Dec. 6, by 5pm. You will need to turn your exam in to the ECE 
main office before it closes at 5pm on that day.

As you have now nearly completed a course in wavelets, a number of you 
may be interested in the course that I am teaching next semester, 
ECE8483 Image & Video Coding. You can find out more about this course at

You have to look at the example of runlength coding worked in class. The 
rate is *not* the sum of the entropies. The rate is the *number of bits 
per original source sample*. You take the number of bits for the runs 
plus the number of bits for the values divided by the number of source 
samples.
