WORKSHOP PROGRAM

Please see technical program to view the on-line presentations for the workshop.

This workshop is the first in a series of workshops intended to promote close interactions between those interested in the development of a public domain speech recognition system. Our plans include two workshops per year. A two-day design review will be held each January that focuses on system development. A one-week training workshop. will be held in in May that focuses on learning how to use our system to experiment on state-of-the-art tasks such as SWITCHBOARD.

The design workshop is intended to be a forum to guide the development of our system. We expect this to be a small, focused workshop attended by human language engineering professionals from industry and academia. Our goal is to solicit feedback on the current system design, and to discuss future directions. In short, if you want the system to have a particular feature, you should consider attending this meeting.

We are now in the second year of our project to build a public domain system that is competitive with state of the art. An overview of our mission to develop Internet Accessible Speech Recognition Technology is available on the web. There is also a web site devoted to dissemination of information, and a mailing list used to promote discussions within our user community.

A preliminary agenda for the workshop is shown below. If you have comments or suggestions about the agenda, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to seeing you at SRSDR'00.
