MISSION

A consortium of local industry in Mississippi has established a communications information technology (CIT) based cluster in the state. This led to the establishment of CIT.ms whose mission is to preserve and promote the value of communication information technology as the centerpiece of economic development in Mississippi and to connect CIT.ms members to information resources and tools. This has created a tremendous challenge to local universities to provide the research facilities, technical expertise, and a skilled and talented workforce for the industry.

The mission of the Telecommunication and Information Technology Laboratory (TITL) at Mississippi State University is to provide an interdisciplinary research and learning environment that facilitates partnerships among educational institutions, industry and government agencies to advance the state of the art in all aspects of telecommunication and information technologies.

VISION

To be a nationally and globally recognized center of excellence in strategic research and development of telecommunication and information technologies.

OBJECTIVE

• Develop cutting-edge high-impact telecommunication and information technologies and transfer them to industry for stimulating high-tech economic growth, business development, and employment opportunities in the state of Mississippi.

• Provide a local source of highly talented, innovative, and creative CIT professionals.

• Conduct basic and applied research in the design and implementation of the next generation networking and Internet technologies.
