      • Warning! Since the certificate that is used for secure logins into VPN web page is not signed by a known entity, Firefox will block the URL and it will seem that the connection is broken. In Firefox version 3.0 and up click the "I understand the risks" button located underneath the error on the page and follow the prompts to accept the receipt of the certificate.

Getting the Files and Client Software

To setup the open VPN you need to download the client that is provided on the ece vpn download page. The client installs a virtual TAP-32 network interface on your PC.

After the client is installed, log into the page using your ECE user name and password. If you are running a setup for someone else be sure that they login with their ECE user name and pass. The certificates used for the VPN connections are custom generated for each user using their user login.

Installing the Keys and Certificates

1. Having downloaded the ZIP file containing the keys and certificates, extract the contents to a known location that you can keep with.

2. Run the "setup.vbs" script to create a keys directory.

3. Now go to the installed location of your openVPN client, the default should be "C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\easy-rsa\keys".

4. Copy the extracted "ca.crt","ece_vpn","ece_vpn.key" to the keys directory.

Connecting to the ECE VPN

After the setup is complete, open up the open VPN by double clicking the tray icon and entering your ECE credentials. If everyting was done correctly you should be connected within seconds.
