I worked four years with Compaq
(now HP) developing server
storage peripherals, such as the array controller above.
As an electrical engineer
straight of college, working as a design engineer for Compaq's server storage
team was a pleasure. The products our group designed -- array
controllers (shown above), hard disk
enclosures (shown below) -- were
|
centered
around a circuit board. Therefore, as the engineer |
for the
circuit board at the heart of the product, I got to work with a wide variety
of people all working to ensure that the product was successful. As an
electrical engineer, I learned how to design high-speed digital logic
system. I worked with teams and people from a number of areas: signal
integrity simulation and verification, mechanical engineering, software and
firmware, project management, CAD tools/layout, legal teams (for filing
patents), in-circuit test/mass production, field support, FCC compliance,
shock and vibration, technical writing, and many others.
