We,
as member of Power and Energy Research Lab (PERL) at MSU are looking for new MS
and Ph.D. students to start with our research group in
either August 2009 or January 2010 in
Electrical and Computer Engineering Department
at Mississippi State university. Students
with good academic records and
research interest are encouraged to apply for
Ph.D. and Masters degrees.
The Department
of Electrical and Computer
Engineering is
the largest and one of the oldest academic units
within the Bagley
College of Engineering at Mississippi
State University (MSU). Housed in the 95,000
square foot Simrall Building, the Department includes 28
faculty members, 12 administrative
and research support staff members, and typically 650
students. The
electric power system, controls
and high voltage engineering
group is one of the major emphasis areas
within the department including
6 faculty. Located
in the Simrall Building, High
Voltage Lab (HVL) is the largest
independent high voltage laboratory in the U.S. MSU is in the top 5 funded power programs at
land grant institutions within the U.S. The group has over 30 full time
graduate students and approximately 10-15 part-time graduate students.
The
Ph.D. and
Masters research work will primarily be related
to the power system operation and control, distributed generation, cyber-physical system as well as electric
ship (e-ship) power system. Students with background in MATLAB/Simulink,
C++, Labview, RSCAD, VTB, dSPACE, CAPE,
or PSS/E will be preferred.
