ECE3283 is a one-semester survey course in electronic circuits and devices. It is intended to give you the essential language and syntactical skills necessary to communicate effectively with the more dedicated craftsmen and invoke the implications of the technology as may be necessary in system development.
The course is designed to give you a one-semester acquaintance with the subject area of electronics. As you may be aware, this topic has a large horizon. Electronic circuits have been embedded in everything from buttons to battleships. It has become an essential fabric for the threads that clothe our civilization. And consequently a good perspective is necessary and essential to the engineers who design, deploy, and redevelop the systems that define our highly interwoven environment.
The course will follow a normal recipe of homework, quizzes and exam, with a relatively strong emphasis on homework as a means to best develop skills in this area. In order to operate at best efficiency and effectiveness you will need to adopt the designated protocols and requirements specified by the course guidelines and directives. The syllabus does track the textbook and it is recommended that you give and eye to the reading assignments. But variances from the textbook will also be necessary, since, as if often true with textbooks, it is oriented toward an excess of detailing. Many shortcuts and techniques that require less overhead will be covered in the classroom, so if you should have need to miss a class, be sure and contact a friend to take good notes in your behalf and in your absence.
Personal
Communication Devices
You would not bring a live communication device
into a board meeting and expect to keep your job. And you will not do so in this classroom either.

Be advised that homework exercises are subject to changes and upgrades. Assignment changes will be made as needed and as I see fit. Homework exercises from past editions of this course are not likely to be valid.
Be aware that if solutions from old homework appear as part of your work it
will imply that the question of academic dishonesty may need to be
reviewed. And if you wish to
jeopardize your career and ability to make something of yourself over something
as stupid as an alphabetic letter, your professor will reluctantly accommodate
that path and you will find out that there is something much worse than a few
credit points missed here and there.
Be on time with your schedule assignments and be concise. It is incumbent upon students to
practice good report techniques as much through their analytical homework
environment as for more formal situations.
