This a scratch page used mostly for HTML constructs and tests.

If you have somehow ended up on this page,
my apologies for the disorganized disrepaired order and organization.

(All of these tests are command-line text).

Something learned via my first (1997) venture into html constructs: How to capture images from other sites, such as these Aurora pix from a meterological site. Click on the pix and you will hear what an Aurora sounds like (or maybe not if the system has been upgraded).

Aurora are storms of electrons falling to earth somewhere over the Yukon, in a region called the Auroral oval. These storms, (Aurora borealis) apparently can be truly spectacular. And I suppose they also have some implications on the meteorology.

And here is my dog. Golden retriever. 75 lbs of friendly joyous greetings.

A few house pix

including homes courtesy of a family history trip with my sister Elizabeth in Aug 2002

This is my home at 1305 Nottingham Rd.
.
The hidden image is take from my neighbor's driveway to show both of the frontyard fountains (the one further back is actually a small circular frogpond). My neighbor, Chuck Rivenburgh, is a master gardener and a good friend.
The frontyard pics shown hail from a storm February 2001 when the house was nearly cleaved by a couple trees from my neighbor's (Rivenburgh) yard. A closeup of the tree pair is on double click behind this pic. Trees were restrained from intercept of my attic space by the blessing of a well-positioned fork in the willow birch adjacent to the garage.
Spring 2005: Here is where I added a few water features to the left and right sides of the frontyard. Off to the left and between my yard and the Rivenburghs is a fountain (not visible in the photo (below)). The photo is of my frontyard frog pond, (which includes a fountainhead). A small vegetable garden (not shown) is to the right.
Here is the house in Epping Forest, Annapolis, MD, where I lived at age 4-5.
My mom refused to let me drive the family car, a 1939 Plymouth. Most unjust.
My Dad was an instructor in the USNA postgraduate school.
Here is the old house in Townville PA where my Dad grew up. Still standing, still strong. It was built by my great-grandfather, Newton Winton approx 1904. He was a veteran, served in the GAR. He and my grandparents lived there until Newton died 25 May 1917.
A nice lady named Martha Besanson lives there now, and she and her husband bought the place in 1942. She is a retired schoolteacher and is the de facto historian of Townville, PA.
Here is what is left of the mill near Centerville, PA that was built by my great great granduncle, David Winton approx 1845. But it is now very silted up. My sister said that there were supposed to be two mills at the site, and sure enough, there are two millraces here.
Behind this pic is an image of the home that is adjacent to the old mill site that apparently includes the old mill grindstone. The house is owned by Bruce Drake, whose ancestors discovered oil on Oil creek (which is the creek that feeds the old mill). Not far from the mill site is the SunnySide cemetery where a number of Winton ancestors were laid to rest. The oil, however, is long departed, and I understand has moved to Kuwait.

Other pix: Items.

This is my Music box table: I am (something of) a collector of music boxes, nine more on the foyer bookshelves, maybe another ten scattered throughout the house.
The marquetry on the music box table is exceptional, probably was made in Sorrento, Italia.
FYI, there are nine (9) music boxes in this picture, (3 + 6)
To a lesser extent I also collect steam engines. The signature one (shown) is a1903 Cretors popcorn steam engine. Even though polished, given new shoes, and retired to my tabletop, it was once a working steam engine that was mounted on a 1912 Cretors popcorn (horse-drawn) wagon. The steam engine that is hidden underneath the above image is more the form of a true (tabletop) model steam engine. In this case it is complete with boiler and firebox, resides next to the window in the MBR.

Interest pix: Cropcircles.

These are messages from alien civilizations who use the cereal croplands in the English midlands as a tabula rasa. They also are responsible for some of the megalithic features of the area, such as Stonehenge and the Avebury circle.

These are pix of one of the more famous British crop circles, the Web of Avebury . Several more "web" pix are stacked one on the other. Click on each pic to expose its other self.
This image is called the "Missing earth formation", a crop circle construct from 1998, - as are most of the ones which I have archived. The hidden companion picture is a ground closeup. And this one is next to an interesting tumulus called Silbury Hill . The hidden companion picture is another crop circle that is near to a megalithic site called the Uffington? White horse. And this one is called "DNA strand". Maybe it is a recipe for a new beta protein.

Scraps, bits and pieces.

If I ever figure out how to make background might use the Henon logistic equation
H(x,y) = x^2 - ay + c,x).
It is a fractal.

<--- Here is its map.
Here it is at different coordinates and amplification parameters:

Special moments:

These are special pix taken 11 October 2003.
These are my two little niecettes, Sheridan's two little girls, Virginia and Meg (Margaret) (ages 6 and 3-1/2, respectively when this picture was taken). Here they are looking through the front window of the rent-a-mansion at the bride, who is on the front porch.
These pix were made at John and Jaimie's wedding, where Virginia and Meg were flower girls. The hidden photo is of the little girls as they started down the aisle (of chairs out on the croquet lawn of the rent-a-mansion).

More wedding pix: The little niecettes twirling their old uncle.
Jaimie is my new daughter-in-law. She is an artist and a marketing specialist for Hawthorn pharmaceuticals and an extraordinary young woman. My young son is a 2nd-yr intern in pediatrics/medicine at LeBonheur(UTMemphis).
And here are a few more snapshots of my (backyard) (backyard) (treehouse) (birdbath - [and birds actually do bathe in it])

Most of the pix are from a backyard gathering July 26, 2003. It included my two little niecettes, who are my two most favorite little people in the universe. We dined on grilled salmon, corn-on-cob, snax, home-made ice-cream, washtub filled with softdrinks. The little nieces raced around the backyard, played on the swings, were pulled around the backyard in the red wagon by their big cousins. Gentle summer moments..

Life has many magical moments. All we have to do is look forth to find them.
More recent pix (yard) - (May 2006)
