ECE 4724 or 4744 Selection and Course Descriptions:
ECE 4724 Embedded Systems with laboratory
Fall Only Class
(Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in ECE 3724 and in one of the following: ECE 3424 or ECE 3244 or CSE 4153 or ECE 4833). Advanced topics in embedded systems design using contemporary practice.
More Details: This class covers fundamental embedded systems technologies and contemporary development and analysis tools. It offers insights into embedded system design, development, operation, and maintenance principles and industry practices. Students will collaborate on software development, experience modern tools to review designs and implementations, and dissect a commercial off-the-shelf embedded system to analyze its working principles and design choices.
ECE 4744 Digital System Design with laboratory
Spring Only Class
(Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in ECE 3724. Credit or registration in ECE 3424 or ECE 3244). Hierarchical digital design using available design software. Computer-aided design workstations will be used to give students access to state-of-the-art design techniques.
More Details: Digital System Design (ECE 4743/6743) continues where Digital Devices (ECE 3714) left off, training students in advanced techniques in designing digital logic on devices such as FPGAs, CPLDs, and ASICs. The course focuses on the use of the SystemVerilog language to implement high-level state machines with pipelining, the digital logic memory-mapped peripherals for use with microcontrollers, and other high-performance, low-latency systems.
