Spring 2021 Undergraduate Technical Electives

For Electrical Engineering students, In order to ensure that both depth and breadth are reflected in the selection of EE Technical Electives, students must satisfy the following requirements:

Depth Requirement – Two of the three technical electives will be strongly related and provide a richness in comprehension of a specific specialization area in Electrical Engineering. The specialization area is sufficiently flexible to track the dynamic changes in technology and engineering practice as determined and documented through the advising process, and must be satisfied with courses from a specific entry in the EE Specialization List.

Breadth Requirement – One of the three technical electives will provide an alternative avenue to the Depth Requirement specialization area.   The alternative area is determined and documented through the advising process, and must be satisfied with a course from a different entry in the EE Specialization List than selected in the Depth Requirement.

A list of EE Technical Electives is illustrated, together with distinct classifications of Electrical Engineering content as represented in each course.  Quite simply, in order for EE Technical Elective selections to be compliant with the Depth and Breadth Policy, the following two conditions must be met:

  1. Depth – Two of the electives selected must have at least one X shown in the same column, indicating like coverage in at least one specialization area.
  2. Breadth – One of the electives selected must have at least one X shown in a column different than the others, indicating alternate coverage in at least one specialization area.
